Buying wheels for your RX7 and early RX

In support of Deano, I thought we could do with a wheel buyers guide thread.

All early RX (R100, RX2, RX3, RX4 and series 1 and series 2 RX7 all have 4x110 PCD wheels.

Series 3 RX7 has 4x114.3 PCD wheels.

All early cars except R100 had 13 inch wheels. R100 had 14 inch wheels.

Series 1 and 2 RX7 have 13 inch wheels and series 3 RX7 has 14 inch wheels.

Early cars had wheels with an offset of +25, iirc. Series 1 and 2 RX7 had a similar +25 offset wheel, but I'm confident from what I've read that series 3 RX7 had a higher offset wheel, like a +35, but that the hubs were still in the same position, so in theory, what works on a series 1 and 2 will work just the same on a series 3. The change might be a bit more dramatic on the series 3 though.

4x110 PCD wheels are very hard to find. I've been looking for some suitable wheels for a few years now.

4x114.3 wheels are plentiful, new and used, in all sizes, widths and offsets.

The choice of new wheels in the UK is heavy on BBS replica wheels and Rota knock offs.

Here's an example of SSR wheels with their size and offset details labelled on them. I got these in the post yesterday.

SSR EX-C mesh wheels (Racing Hart) in 15x7 and 15x8 4x110 PCD with 0 offset front and rear.

They are 8J but don't forget the extra inch each side in total as the 8J only refers to where the tyre bead mounts

It seems quite normal that 110 PCD was not a standard option, hence the extra 110 sticker, which I have seen a few times on wheels on the net.

These wheels are supposed to have a 3 piece centre, with a plate, a collar and a cap. I didn't get these with the wheels so am now on the lookout for some. Most likely place will be the US.

Being 0 offset they should stick out quite a bit, as standard offset is +25 so I'm hoping they fit under the guards. Only one way to find out.

They appear straight and true and will need a good clean, but I'm hoping they will look something like this:

Tool and everyone else,

The use of the web calculators is aide by use of the OEM wheel/tyre specs.

In that case does anyone have the OEM factory tyre sizes that were fitted to the S1, S2 and S3 ?
