Hi, I have just bought a 1985 Elford Turbo. Had a couple of non-turbos 30 years ago. Viewed and bought the car on Saturday and drove it home nearly 200 miles without a murmur. Not bad since the car had not been on the road since 2010 and had only done 10 miles in that period.

Hi Ian, That is the vehicle I bought. So far so good. Needs some work but not too much i hope. I had forgotten how heavy the steering is at low speed. I must have been stronger and fitter 30 years ago!
I am based just outside London in Loughton Essex.

it looks like a cracker....in my favourite colour too. We have known about this car for many a year although it slipped off the radar for a few years...
Here it is at a show circa 2003 with Nigel Fraser, one of the previous keepers...

				Hi Dave,
Thanks for the welcome, and Walshie or Kevin is fine.
Are there many other members in Essex or East London?

Hi Kev, Find the Location List on here, in the Spotters Corner .....that will tell you where every 1st Generation car is (that we know about).
You're slotted in now in the Series 3 section - South East England, but the list won't appear with you on it untill the next edition.
Your car is on there however - at number 175 position. It was 'Unknown Location' last October......had been for years so welcome again. Nice to tie up loose ends.
If you want to make a meet or make contacts in your area you're best putting a post up. It's then up to people to respond. I'm very wary about data protection (for everyone, not just Forum members), so I structure the location list to be very general on purpose - Exact locations might be considered an intrusion by some people.
Hope that helps
Dave

welcome from me. That looks like a very nice car you've scored there! Expensive... but maybe not for what it is. If I'd had the money I'd have bought it! Seems like they're finally starting to go up to where their true value ought to be
