I would like a new exhaust system so I thought I would ask what options there are for our cars, I know WGT and Janspeed make exhausts.

what other options are there? I would consider getting a header only and having a straight pipe made up. What headers are available? I can't weld also.

I am in the market for a new back box so emailed double s as above. They came back fairly quickly with a catalogue of parts. There appears to be headers, front mid section, rear mid section and a back box.

What is not clear is if the back box and rear mid section will bolt directly up to the Elford system?

Also the tail pipes look different to the standard system. Are they smaller diameter or longer?

Any info appreciated.

the double S stainless back box will bolt straight up to an Elford Turbo exhaust or a stock Mazda system.... I've put them on loads of 1st gens.
My current Elford has a Double S back box on it..... the tailpipes are longer than stock and a larger diameter. The stock backbox tailpipes are actually quite small but look big due the the stainless trims on the tail pipes. To keep the stock look on my car, I cut the Double S tailpipes back and fitted the stock stainless tailpipe trims over them.

I assume they are durable as they seem to have been around for a while?

Have you jet the standard mid pipes? The elfordones look larger diameter than the stock.

they are a lot more durable than the mild steel stock back boxes..... and way, way lighter too. There is no noticeable increase in exhaust sound as the guys who heard my car running at Retro rides can confirm.
I've never done anything with the middle pipes, just bolted them up.

Anyone used a racing beat exhaust? Can't tell if they are stainless or not. They claim a fairly good power increase.

RB exhausts are NOT stainless. I have one adapted to run on my RX2.

I have the twin pipes to the diff. Much bigger than the stock pea shooter.

I have the twin pipes to the diff, too.Since 1990 i have only welded the rear muffler cause of rust from inside. But really thick steal so no problem.
Best deep sound like V8 and best power increase 99 kW rwp with stock 12A testet by Bosch.
A lot of experience and development from RB inside of these system so you have to pay the price for.

Double s have quoted 293 +vat and shipping so about the same cost as the rb. Both pretty pricy really.

You also only get the back box with the double s whereas the rb goes over the diff also.

Might just weld up all the holes in the old one unless someone has something for sale?
