I'll have one again one day :)

Hello there, just thought I would say hello and say I'm loving looking at the forum and reading all about the RX7s that are still kicking about.
There are more than I though still in the UK, and I bet there are some really good ones out there.
My Dad had a Gold series 2, almost brand new when he got it. IIRC the registration was VEF 274Y, and it came from Stockton on Tees. Unfortunately is was smashed up/written off when he was heading to the fire station on a call (retained firefighter), and the only straight panel was the sunroof! We think someone had let a tyre down as the road wasn't that bad at the time, although it was about 3am, so he was probably a bit drowsy.
Lovely car that was!
He got another one later on, this time a Burgundy sort of colour, and it was referred to as "The Rat" as the registration was A783 RAT. It was off the road for quite a while and ended up not running very well, so I set about it, and overhauled the carb, fitted some new wheels and then ran it myself for a while in about 1989. I have often wondered if it has survived.
Anyway, always had a soft spot for the RX7, and even though I have always half-promised myself a Porsche 911 Turbo for my 50th, I won't be able to afford one, so I reckon next Year I might be on the look out for a nice FB
It will fulfill a couple of "needs" ..... I want a 50th prezzie for myself, and I want a "Retro" car
Looking forward to seeing the pics on this forum, and seeing how folks look after (or abuse) their RX7s
PS: I always preferred the earlier interior trim which was the material with the stripes in it, rather than the later "velour" stuff
Marty
