Hi I have an aftermarket fuel tank and it uses a VDO type sender, my question is would anyone know the specs on resistance in ohms that the original sender would put out? Any info would be much appreciated, many thanks in advance

I struggled to find the answer to this one, but Car Builder Solutions do a converter that might help:

Combining data & tolerance from Works Manual for Series 1 and Haynes Manual for Series 2 both say the same:....
Resistance at 'Full' 3 ohms (tolerance +2 -3 ohms)
Resistance at 'Empty' 110 ohms (tolerance +11 -7 ohms)

That explains why gauges fail to 'Empty'......somethings gone open circuit.
