Want to lower my FB 1984 series 3

Post by Rxkid »

Hi.

I have a completely standard 1984 rx7.

I want to lower it so the top of the tyres sit level with the top of the wheel arches front and rear. Car must sit level as per below pic.

Car is for street use.

Comments and advice much appreciated.

Custom springs made to your specs. Height required will depend on wheel and tyre choice.

You should change out the shocks too.

The lower you go the more the watts link will affect the location of the axle, left to right. You may need to get it modified to make it adjustable.

Other than that, it's dead easy and plain sailing.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

If you're not after coilovers as said custom springs will be best bet. For shocks get Koni yellows for the rear of an aw11 mr2 for the front, and use E30 ones on the back. I can find you part numbers for shocks if you need

If your current suspension is still good, coilovers are a good option.

You can make a new hole for bodyshell fixing the panhard rod. depends how low you like to go.
