Players Classic 2019 - Goodwood

Post by MelloYello » Thu Aug 01, 2019 3:37 pm

So Players Classic at Goodwood was another great show this year. Bringing in a huge line up of cars from all divisions of the car community. All cars are "approved" which helps to avoid to much repetition (although s-chassis was prevalent). This show has moved to a two day affair now and rumour is it will be three next year.

I made it along on the Sunday so I missed the track action. Here are a few of the cars that caught my attention. A lot of Japanese stuff cos that is my preference, but there really is something for everyone (fords, minis, german, hotrod), so try and get along next year. Saw a lot of models that I have not seen in a while.

1 - Nice shot of the Goodwood clock tower, oh look a Rx7
Image

2 - closer shot of Rx7, looking good
Image

3 - Corolla, very j-spec. Not seen one of these for a while.
Image

4 - Dolomite race car, honestly people think they can put stripes on their car and it makes them cool
Image

5 - a third generation Prelude, when was the last time you saw one of these?
Image

6 - a corrado race car, okay then
Image

7 - Someone is making a lot of money importing s-chassis cars to the UK
Image

8 - They are a good looking car
Image

9 - with a lot of after market support
Image

10 - an FTO, with customisation, white on white on white, an acquired taste
Image

11 - it's long, it's big, it's slow - whats not to like? (over heard this comment from an unsatisfied looking girlfriend of an attendee :? )
Image

12 - a simple Civic, clean and low on nice rims
Image

13 - tough looking Datsun Z car, widened steel wheels, kirby style seats, a bit ratty - tick
Image

14 - this red RX7 FC was beautiful
Image

15 - it shined so hard the paint looked wet
Image

16 - I do hope it stays as is
Image

17 - like when was the last time you saw a third generation Prelude
Image

18 - Ferrari on air ride suspension (join the club, buy a car, put it on air ride suspension - stand back and watch people lose their shit)
Image

19 - another rotary engined vehicle, owned by a stormtrooper maybe?
Image

20 - 3 series beemer, Big motor
Image

21 - some thing different with this Stiletto
Image

22 - good from all angles
Image

23 - and a big fan base
Image

24 - a lot of fan boys
Image

25 - come join the club
Image

26 - gotcha! not a s-chassis but a Nissan of another kind - 300ZX
Image

27 - blank space

28 - we all know what this is
Image

29 - Gangster points right here. Black Continental on air.
Image

30 - A SVX! Yeah Who would have thunk it
Image

31 - No front shots when it looks this good from the rear
Image

32 - the other type of Nissan - Skyline
Image

33 - Cool Story this. Owner is "hardupgarage" on insta for all you cool kids.
So he bought this Charger from the "Fast and Furious" show that toured the UK. He got it for cheaps, the car had an electric drive train, and that supercharger was powered by a switch
He also had just purchased a Nascar, for a very good deal.
So he had a beat up old charger with no running gear, and a Nascar that he could not use on the road  you got it .....

39 - another blank space

40 - it's summer, tops off
Image

41 - VIP all the way in this S-klasse
Image

42 - See kids - buy expensive exotic car, bag it ...
Image

43 - .... bolt on some arches .......
Image

44 - slap on some stripes. Car of the Show 2019.
Image

45 - Gotta admit, It does look cool 8-)
Image

46 - the photo does not do justice to the paint job on this Mini th:
Image

47 - period race spec Ford Galaxie
Image

48 - a bit of British, a Spitfire
Image

49 - RAF roundel and all, where's my flying goggles, and scarf Rupert?
Image

50 - how cool, a tobacco firm sponsoring your show car build.
Image

51 - oh wait, no they did not pay you to brand your car. Right. Smoking KILLS children.
Image

52 - I love a long roof. And its a fast Japanesey one too. Stagea.
Image

53 - This stood out for me. Nice conditioned Caddy with period kit and decals.
Image

54 - Looked great.
Image

55 - The organisers come from a background of the German scene, so there is still a strong influence of this.
This was my favourite of that bunch.

So chaps, that's it for this years coverage. Do try and get along next year. A good day/s out.
