cooling

After taking out RX to Beaulieu it ran well but under load/traffic crept up too warm still. I have a radiator coming as ours has a leak...small.
I thought a check of the new thermostat against an original in a box of bits would be good and the hole in the pattern new one I got is tiny!! so ran with no stat as a test and its even warmer!
Can anyone explain that.....no airlocks it seems, heater works in car.

Hi Russ,
On some vehicles removing the stat creates a short circuit, this causes the car to overheat as it bypasses the radiator.
( something I learned the hard way as an AA patrol years ago)

thank you.....that is interesting, the rad gets warm and top and bottom hoses warm so it does get flow BUT perhaps along your line it could partially bypass it/reduce rad flow? though really not sure how!
I will fit the new Rad we await, the original now tested stat and prior to that give it another flush out warm and back flowed with a hose in case a little use has stirred up sludge.
Fingers crossed g-l
