Had this about a year now! Always keep an eye on this forum, thought i'd post up a thread to let you know whats happening with the car!

It looked so clean when I bought the car.. I later discovered it had been given a quick "blown over" and "tart up" to make it look the part :(

However, it was legal! Mot and taxed until the end of the summer! :) I bought some hub adaptors, SSR MK1 wheels, had a custom exhaust made for it, one silencer, fully heat wrapped 2 1/4" system. Also "adjusted" ;) the suspension a little! It drove like shit, but looked decent!

Image

I used it up until a few months ago! Took it off the road and decided to strip it down to see what rust there was! Was shocked to fine lots under the front wings and inside the engine bay! Someone had patched over bits before  I'm cutting back the rust and welding in new metal. No patches, so its going to be solid and the rust shouldn't come back!

In between rust repairs, i've started to seam weld the car too!

My plan for it is to get all the welding finished, paint the engine bay and get the engine back in! I'm going to replace all the suspension bushes, hopefully get something uprated/aftermarket. I want it on decent coilovers too, plus a 4x114.3 hub swap!

I'll try keep this updated as best I can!

Dan

I will be! The SSR MK1 wheels are 4x114.3. I'm doing the hub swap so I don't need to use the hub adaptors! Plus i'll be able to run my 7" SSR's up front and i'll buy some 8's for the rear! 8-)

I remember the guy selling this ran a classic car business. I'm guessing he was the one that tarted it up for sale. Good luck with the resto.

Sorry for the lack of updates!

I've been busy with other projects and moving house/work! Excuses excuses..

Nearly finished off the welding in the engine bay.

Bought lots of new parts for it..

Energy suspension bush kit
Custom GAZ coilovers with cusco top mounts
Racing beat paddle clutch with FC turbo spline
FC turbo box
12a Bridgeport motor with Weber 48IDA carb
Bolt in half roll cage
New door seals, window seals
New wings and rear arch repair panels

Still loads to do! Bridgeport motor is stripped, so on the lookout for a rebuild kit! If anyone knows the best place to buy?

I'll upload some new photos to my photo bucket and get them posted up!

If anyone's on Instagram search for me.. DANDILLINGER

Picture 3 show a very cool Rx7. I like the fender mirrow gives the car more retro look. Wheels looking fantastic with deep closed dishes.
Drop the front 10mm more and a give the car a new front bumper. Also smaller license plate like the US or japanese one.

Been lacking on this.. Bought loads more bits for it. Going to get stuck back into working on it again this year!

I built a turbo mx5 for drifting last year. Thankfully that's pretty much complete now!

I'm 50/50 about selling this project on.

My other half just recently gave birth to our son and I can't see myself ever getting the time to finish this...

Possibly a for sale advert going up soon
