Axle shaft compatibility
I have a 79 that I just fitted a 83 GSL disk brake rear end into and it looks like the left axle may be bent. I will be looking into it more this weekend. Are the axles in the drum brake rear ends the same as the disk brake rear ends? I have the original 79 assembly that I can steal the axle out of ...

Re: Hello from Olympia Washington
Yes both correct. Quite a few projects now. I have a 81 Bertone Coupé in the garage that is going back together after a light restoration. You can see the roof in the 4th pic of the orange car. The blue one is a parts donor for that project, it should run and drive when all done. It had a hard life ...

Re: Hello from Olympia Washington
Well got another 79 this one is a fixer, going to sell the orange/bronze one. The Red one donated it's differential to the other one so it is drivable now and it now has a GSL LSD disk brake rear end. Has some mismatched wheels now until I decide what wheels to put on it. I want 15 inch wheels so no...

Brake line adapters and braided lines
Hello all, I just got a LSD diff with disk brakes out of a 83 GLS along with the complete front strut assemblies. They are going on my 79 and from what I understand the brake lines have different thread types. Does anybody know what each car has as far as thread size? Are there any suppliers for bra...

Engine storage
Hello all, I'm going out of town for a few months. Is there anything I should do to prep the engine for sitting in the very humid Olympic Northwest? I see stuff about fogging oil and spraying two-cycle oil in the intake. Does anybody have advice on any technique for the rotary? The car will unfortun...

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Install
As far as I know the engine is the original engine, it has all the signs of an older 12A. Cream colored pulleys, no lip around the spark plug holes. That picture is just one I found that looks like the rear plate on my motor. My engine is in the car and covered with 30 years of oil. All the lights f...

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Install
There is no gauge or light on the 79. The Haynes manual shows a Mazda adapter that replaces the oil cooler banjo bolt. My 12A looks like this http://smg.photobucket.com/user/GrunthosToo/media/RX%20stuff/P4160036.jpg.html There are the two holes that the arrow is pointing to but they do not go anywhe...

Oil Pressure Gauge Install
Hello all,
I recently acquired a 79 and was kind of amazed there is no oil pressure warning system in the car. Where is the best/easiest way to hook up a pressure gauge? I'm sure it will be an electric gauge, just not that familiar with the rotary yet.
Thanks,
Howie
