Re: What I've done to my car this week!

Hello All, Well we finally have our baby back, the new paint and interior look incredible. Hope you agree :D Back to original paint, looks so amazing -- but does show up that we need to clean up the wheels!! 20220916_121240.jpg The interior has been rebuilt keeping the 'brown on brown' 1979 aestheti...

It's been a few weeks but it's worth the wait! She's back to her original Sonic Bronze colour and looking really special. 20220710_103429.jpg No Plate.jpg 20220710_103819.jpg She's with the upholsterer where they are working on sound deadening and getting the seats ready. More photos from the painters. Body is pretty naked now, steel work looks great though.

Re: What I've done to my car this week!

Last 2 weekends I've been waking our 1979 build from a 4 year sleep. New battery, oil and fuel, she started first time. Next got her a service including replacing the coolant. Since Friday she has been up on a stand getting all new bushings, shocks, springs and other suspension components. Can't wa...

New Interior Colours for 9HB-295

I'm posting changes to our 1979 series 1, 9HB-295, also known as "Helen's Babe" (Helen is my wife) on the "what have you done to your car this week" post. One of the things this week is to choose new materials for the interior, so I thought I'd add that to this part of the forum ...

Re: What I've done to my car this week!

Good luck .... strange shape to the gear leaver ? Dibs Dibs, As @KiwiDave showed, I think it's standard for Aussie cars?? I just saw the image below on the "Shannons Insurance" Youtube channel, Shannons is a specialist insurer here with whom our car "Helen's Babe" is insured wit...

Re: What I've done to my car this week!

Car is at the motor trimmer this week, total interior strip down including the dash that I was unable to do. Dash is heading to a company called "the dash doctor" to be renewed.

Re: Assistance with Rear Hatch Closure Mechanism

Hi all, it's been a few weeks since my last post about the hatch closure. With your help I identified that the mechanism was missing a spring that attaches to the hook. I tried a few from Bunnings but they did not work. I found a full replacement mechanism in Queensland -- this has what looks like a...

Re: What I've done to my car this week!

The '79 rides much better with the new suspension components, so this weekend was dedicated to interior strip-out before it goes to auto upholster for new (back to original colours) interior. 20220312_111729.jpg Rear compartment stripped out 20220312_111746.jpg Front section and doors stripped out (...

$1000 (Canadian) 1983 RX7 project car

rbld Hey All, I stumbled across this project on You Tube owned by a pretty funny Canadian Giles Vessey. He has 7 episodes up at the moment (March 2022) and they are really interesting. Giles has more skill than I have at rebuilding the steel work -- plus since he is in the Northern Hemisphere with h...
