Back to the 80's

Post by Wishy »

Welcome to my build thread or to name it better continued progress thread.

I bought the car as is fully stripped back and paint, interior restored. Car look like show room condition and i take "ZERO" credit for this. All credit to Frankie that i bought the car off of - top bloke.

As it stands the car is Running
12a with Weber 45 Side draft card's
Custom Exhaust
Front half super bush set - rear still to be fitted.
Custom fab'd rear wing
Over fender
Set of Rota BM

Future plan's to do the Suspension, still on sure what i am going for - looking at custom springs and Tokico IILLUMINA struts. Although i have seen a few running the Gaz coilovers.
Most likely strip the interior shed a bit of weight and some buckets but will keep it all would want to spoil the car as i could always put it back to standard
Idea will be looking in to going 13bT but i have a lot of research before i decide what i am doing.

Anyways here some pic's some may have seen it for sale...

Wow, nice photos! h[b[

Your car looks the business against that backdrop, the wheels really set it off. Where abouts were the pics taken?

Welcome, reckon you bought a good car there. The work was done by James McCarthy of JM Garage for the previous owner, and he certainly has some top quality fab skills. It's a great-looking FB

Welcome, great pictures.

A word of advice on stripping the interior - I did it on my S2 and it made it one of the most inhospitable places on earth. Left the interior in the S1!! If you decide to go 13BT there are a couple of us that can help you out.....

Yeah I second that. Having ridden around for years in my friends stripped out VWs, I thought it'd be fine to strip out the back of my FB. It lasted about 3 days before it all went back in. I found a lot of tinny rattles coming through from the axel and the drone of the exhaust just resonated around the cabin.

Nice looking FB you've got there :)
