New member from Australia

Post by jdmrx2 »

Hi all, just joined up here. I have an 82 series 2 as a bit of an "interim" project while I take a break from my other major project, a 71 RX2 Coupe. Not new to the rotary scene, having had a few over the years. This is only my second RX7 though.

The current car basically needed a thorough going over in a few areas that were showing their 30 years of use. Will post up a couple of before and after pics once I figure out how.

Thanks for the welcome guys!!

I have put up some pics as requested. Most of the ones of the 7 are pre new suspension and lowering, but you get the idea. The 7 has been very rewarding in terms of transforming it from a run down example to something that is pretty neat. The new interior and a lot of detailing and polishing has made the most difference. The interior that was in the car was very tired. It runs a stock 12A with extractors and exhaust. Not fast, but a nice cruiser.

Also a couple of pics of the 2 coupe of where it is now. When I bought it, it was a damaged rolling shell. It has seen a full ground up to its's current (but still unfinished) state. Not far off being complete....all the hard work is done. Best of all the only thing I have outsourced was the media blasting....every thing else has been done at home by me. Engine is an RX4 type 13B extended bridgeport and 12A turbo box. Car is goin down the path of the "jap look" with fender mirrors etc
Currently doing some major work on my house, so hoping to get back into the 2 later this year.

That 'Sev is lovely and clean, the interior is a different league 8-) You must be pleased with that.

Funnily enough, I was out playing and took some snaps of a mate's Herschel Orange RX-2 only two days ago. It seems to be in a similar state to yours at the moment, fresh paint and not a lot else! Sedan rather than coupe though

Haha, yeah maybe! I love the Herschel on early mazdas, it suits them to a tee! Mine was a factory orange car, but had been painted BRG at some stage in it's life.

Your friends sedan looks nice, I like both sedan and coupe shape in the RX2....great rear quarter panel shape :D
