Re: just seen this...
My mates gaffer had a series 1 with the lift out factory roof panel, same as the s2 & s3..... it was a factory option on the s1's but became standard on the s2's & s3's.syebba wrote:Yes that would be daft if you did fit it!ian65 wrote:it was 1st registered 01.09.1979syebba wrote:Ian was your S1 reg in 1980.
Being an anorak,my S1 was 1979 & it did'nt have to have a rear foglight or reflectors on the rear lights.
Wish i still had mine!
I might have put the fog light on myself... I can't remember now but it was the kind of daft thing I did when I was 22!
Mind you on my 1st S3,i'll use my young years as an excuse i fitted 2 brake lights to the inside of the glass hatch at the top, thought they looked well cool, big chunky lights in those days similar looking to your foglight, taste deffo gets better with advancing years.
That sunroof looks the same as my one too, wonder if mazda fitted them,to me they look aftermarket compared to the ones fitted on later cars.
4 spoke steering wheel looks better in S1's too.
Is that a S2/S3 spoiler on the rear?
All of the other sunroofs I've seen on s1's were that aftermarket type that everyone put into their cars back in the day. I don't think these were factory fitted but I suppose Mazda Uk could have put them in when the cars landed here... as could the supplying dealer.
2 brake lights on the inside of the hatch? ... and I thought I was the daft one!!

I've never seen a lift out factory roof panel on uk s1's.
Ref chavvy brake lights i fitted to inside of glass hatch, when it was dark i used to put a brick on the brake pedal,go round the back of the car & say corrrrrrrrrrr wicked!
Haha,i was young.
Still can't decide which is more daft, putting on a dangly, ugly fog light or 2 halfords brake lights!

I reckon we're as daft as each other!
I've got a photo of a s1 with a factory roof somewhere, I'll try and dig it out. They were a factory option on the S1's in the Uk ... very rare though, I've only ever seen that one.
