THE AUSSIE RESTO SER III

I did'nt get any pics when i got the car it was in excellent condition no accident damage no rust and the factory paint just had stone ships and a few dents the interior was good ie no rips or wear the only thing the owner previous had done is fitted a 13B out of an RX-5 witch i thought was a good thing so i did'nt mind that's how they should have came with the bigger engine.It was a really good car to do a nut and bolt restoration on bought the car for $ 7000 and spent $7000 on the resto did all the work on the car myself inc paint

Me and my brother hand rubbed all the factory paint off back to the primer it took a full weekend to do this but it came up a treat i think i did'nt get that many photos of pulling the car apart once i start i forget to take progress pictures if it was'nt for one of my mates to tell me you should take photos of what you are doing they would not be any .

when i was doing the engine bay i left all the factory paint runs in the paint all factory sealent welding slags just degreased the bay and lighty rubbed the bay with 600 wet'n dry paper i wanted to leave it just how it left the factory with all blemishers in the head light buckets i cleaned all the dirt and crap off and did not paint in them at all just sprayed clear over them to protect the surface left them as they left the factory with just the primer and the red over spray did the same with the under side of the front mud guards just cleaned with sugar soap and petrol to get the road tar spots off did'nt take guards off did not want to destroy any off the factory sealant did the same with the door jambs were the hingers are cleaned them with in a inch of there life and just cleared them just left the as they were it was hard work to perserve all the factory finishers but i did it

Headlight washer bottle, wiper motor ,hot start assist.

After i got all the alloy engine parts back from being glass beaded and all the gold zinc plating back i rebuilt the carby and finished off the engine the engine was a fresh build so i did'nt touch the inside of the motor i noted down all the factory paint marks when they assemble the engine at mazda and reproduce back on the engine some off them you can not see them when the engine is back the car but i wanted to do it right cleaned all the vacuum hoses got some NOS rubber fuel lines from mazda with all the right markings on them .

Car all painted sorry no pics while i was painting it now to put it back together start with engine bay after assembling all the relays putting factory paint marks and all the lettering back on them and then started on the wire harness cleaning all the wire loom white tags with part numbers on them each harness were it branched out to different areas of the engine bay are marked with a different colored bands had to redo all that all the stickers for the car were made by letsgo rotary
