The rust on it now
- Front of each chassis legs needs repairing
- The piece by the rear wheels connected to the trailing arms need replacing
- Holes on the rear of the sills
- The bootlip beneath the seal has rusted through, letting water in
Other than that, it's just surface. Now, I wouldn't have much experience with rusty cars, so when I was at the other welder, they were tapping everywhere and saying this and that is rotten and needs to be replaced. I had sunk alot of cash into it at that stage, and every day there seemed to be something else going wrong, so this seemed like the final straw.
I brought it down to a buddy of mine who is restoring a mk1 Escort and his Uncle who has restored plenty of cars over the years, and they were shocked that someone thought it was a write off. They reckon the other guys just didn't want to tackle it.
So, it is getting welded up now
