Some success - fresh fuel and a twist on the cas and viola!

I ended play for the day due to the noise but I'll tinker tomorrow but with the muffler(s) on :)

Hi Ramonz.. just read it all and enjoyed the read. I like the idea of using the fc subframe, what have you done with the steering? is it a rack and pinion?

I used the complete subframe - Rack and pinion including the power steering pump.

I also then got the T2 4-pot front brakes.

Glad you like it! 18 months is far too long between drives :D

Wayhey! Straight to the point - I took the girl for a spin today!

The previous video had it running but like a bag of nails, and after the run in with the neighbour, I had busied myself with tidying things up that needed sorting anyway.

Over the weekend though, I had attempted to start her a couple times but no joy - the same almost starting but not quite.

I hadn't touched the microtech as it had come off a running car but after I ran the battery down and was scratching my head I scrolled through and found the fuel trim was -42% which was odd, bumped it back to 00% and she started first pop.

I left it running NA as I wanted a shakedown without the stress of detonating.

First impressions on the drive:

Needs a proper tune.
Clutch is savage! A bleed might help, but she is heavy and bites hard.
Feels fast even without the turbo - a u turn had it crossed up real easy.
I clamped on a muffler to drop the DBS off, but she is still awesomely loud.
The brakes appear to work, pull up nice and true.
The steering works - nice and direct which is a result
Engine seems strong and healthy.

This is off the key - there is an air leak which is making it idle high, sounds great on rev though (Old biddy was out!)

Made a list of what to do next, and the exhaust looks like a likely candidate for attention.

I love a good mock so I assembled some bits on the car to see what it would be like with an actual exhaust.

And here are some pics for the hell of it now that it looks like a complete car again!

Great news! What's the steering lock like? Are you able to get more angle turning now?

You know it makes sense, and it's not like you won't have any support now. 8-)

Just re reading this and realised its not been updated for a while.

Need to catch you guys up on the previous (6) months successes and failures....

First off, I had a small incident that involved a jack and my radiator, then my radiator and my bonnet. Net result was that I found a spare EGI rad that seemed to fit the hole - thus pushing me further down the path of being an FC :)

So if anyone cares, an egi rad is a pretty easy swap - lay the FB and FC rads back to back and drill holes to match the FB. The FC will bolt up with one pair of holes, but even in the lowest postion, the FC rad will sit too high. The main thing is that the width is the same.

I cannot comment on if there will be clearance issues with the sway bar or engine bay splash plate as I dont run either!

Cut the top connection off as it drops into the 45 degree downturn to get just a straight fitting and you still have enough meat to clamp a hose on.

Hoses I had lying about but the originals might work. The connections are pretty similar once you cut the end off the top.
