Re: 12a stripdown
You only need to lift the shaft about 30mm, then while holding the shaft up, raise the centre plate at an angle and slide it up and over.
Easier to do it with 2 people.
The other way is to pull the front plate off now, exposing the front rotor, then everything will be free.

Re: 12a stripdown
The dowel pins are seized. This normally occurs after a motor has overheated.
Hit the plates with a rubber mallet until they come apart.

hi/ thanks for taking an interest;dowle pins out, shaft will not pull up through bearing, round plate at front with 2 pins is limiting the lift of the shaft;dont know if bearing is picking up,turns ok, bafled

Re: 12a stripdown
You've spun the front stat gear bearing by sounds of it.
You might as well the shaft with a lump hammer cos it and the rotor are stuffed.

This should have said: You might as well hit the shaft with a lump hammer cos it and the stat gear are stuffed.TOOL wrote:You might as well the shaft with a lump hammer cos it and the rotor are stuffed.
Rotor is probably ok, as you said. If the housings are good then that's 80% of your issues out the way.
