12a stripdown

hi/ bought a 12a on ebaya few months ago,started to strip it down,rear housing and rotor v good condition.but cant remove intermediate plate to get to front rotor and housing/ manual says lift shaft 1 in and angle plate to lift off/but shaft wont lift that high.am i bein thick or am i missing something . :( .

You only need to lift the shaft about 30mm, then while holding the shaft up, raise the centre plate at an angle and slide it up and over.
Easier to do it with 2 people.

The other way is to pull the front plate off now, exposing the front rotor, then everything will be free.

it will only lift about 10mm/ front plate will not come off .is there something i havent undun :shock:

The dowel pins are seized. This normally occurs after a motor has overheated.

Hit the plates with a rubber mallet until they come apart.

hi/ thanks for taking an interest;dowle pins out, shaft will not pull up through bearing, round plate at front with 2 pins is limiting the lift of the shaft;dont know if bearing is picking up,turns ok, bafled

You've spun the front stat gear bearing by sounds of it.

You might as well the shaft with a lump hammer cos it and the rotor are stuffed.

that makes more sense. thanks for your knowledge,i shall be hitting it with a large hammer on sunday, let you know what i find. cheers :shock:

shaft hit with large hammer, now apart, bearing had spun, rotor looks ok, housings look good, cheers again.will post pictures when i can work out how to post them 0-0 ]

This should have said: You might as well hit the shaft with a lump hammer cos it and the stat gear are stuffed.

Rotor is probably ok, as you said. If the housings are good then that's 80% of your issues out the way.
