Had this email from a guy who isn't on this forum but has been restoring a series 2 for the last 3 yrs or so...... he's giving up so wants to sell it on...... he hasn't named a price but it's an unfinished restoration..... I think Cliff has seen the car so would be able to advise on it's pre-resto condition etc.
If anyone's interested, shoot me a pm and I'll pass on his contact details...
Mr Codge, you'll recall this car, a silver s2..... didn't it have a tow bar on it if I remember right?
Hi Ian,
How's it going?
I might have to accept with much disappointment and embarrassment that I will never get the rx7 back together!
It's way to good to scrap and I was wondering if there might be any one interested on the forum who is looking for what is a good car at a competitive price. What would it be worth????
I bought the car with a full mot and drove it up from Devon to the Wirral .
The motor ran well but the brakes on the front required attention .
With this in mind I made the mistake of putting it in the garage and got carried away as one must do job lead to another. Unfortunately life got in the way and it just didn't happen.
In short the front end came off with the engine staying in.
All the parts that came off were painted or replaced and are all there to be refitted.
I have kept all the parts as organised as possible
Good points
Solid 1982 Rx7fb mk2 that has sat in a dry garage with a cover on for the last 3 years
Irish plate syb ??? With v5
76,000
Full Pollybush set for car. 200 plus££
Refurbished radiator with new core £ 100
New master cylinder for brakes.
New master cylinder for clutch.
Front shocks have new inserts and new springs and have been welded to create a coil over set up. Looks good.
New ball joints on the control arm with new Pollybush fitted.
All the front inside wings have been cleaned back to bare metal and painted. The wings are off and it can be inspected.
Oil cooler off a later model rx obtained by your good self.
Rx8 leather seats that require small attention. With original seats.
strut brace
Bad points.
It requires the front end putting back together.
Engine bay requires respray
A small ripple in the passenger door. (As I got it)
Passenger window requires fitting.
Door cards are tatty.
New battery required .
The rest of the car has been untouched and as I got it.
Requires a good clean.
The car will never be a show winner but I was really pleased with it when I picked it up for a 30 year old car.
Let me know your thoughts but I would love it to go to an enthusiast to keep it on the road!!!!
I hope all is well with you .
Best regards
Dave

Yes Indeed, Was in Crediton, Devon.ian65 wrote: Mr Codge, you'll recall this car, a silver s2..... didn't it have a tow bar on it if I remember right?
Dave W. brought it up to Wirral, near where Cliff lives.
And yes, It had a tow bar......handy for a camping trailer I always thought, having had one on an S2.

Re: Project series 2 up for sale
Well this is a bit of a shock as the guy did seem very up for it.
The main issue I remember was that there was to me a lot of rust around the front windscreen, too much for my liking.
Internally it was in fair condition but was missing a few pieces.
He had an issue with dust covers for the front disc brakes as they were heavily rusted and to be truthful they needed replacing - I think he was actually having some specially made.

Re: Project series 2 up for sale
I had a phone call from the owner of the Silver Series 2 (SIB 7162) which he drove up from Devon - if you recall this car had a tow-bar too.
Basically he has decided to sell the car as he is unable to complete the project.
So I went to see him earlier today to have a chat and see the condition of the project car - I have been offered the car but have no garage space for it.
1stly this car has been garaged/dry stored for 3-4 years
Bodily all welding and rust removal has been done.
Front wheel arches finished.
Front outer wings removed as is the nose cone and bumper etc.
Radiator and under-slung oil cooler removed.
Engine compartment is ready for paint.
Mechanically front struts removed with new coil overs ready to install.
Steering rack to replace.
Hubs and brakes to be re-assembled.
Front anti-roll bar ready to install (all new bushes).
Wheels to fit.
Re-cored radiator and replacement oil-cooler to install.
New battery bracket to paint and install.
Re-fit wings, nose cone, bumper, lower valance and bonnet.
Re-fit coils and ignition wiring.
Fit battery.
Check service items - oil and water.
Start engine and MOT.
Haven't seen the front wings but told there is minor surface rust to the bottoms. The cars' paintwork looks reasonable so might just need a polish and waxing.
The above is not a complete listing of work but fairly accurate.
I would estimate 2 weeks to complete.
In my opinion this is a worthwhile project for someone to finish !

Re: Project series 2 up for sale
I'm not interested in it myself but how much does he want for it..... he's got more chance of flogging it if we know what he wants for it.

Re: Project series 2 up for sale
I told him to get onto the forum to advertise it but "he doesn't do the internet much so not interested" so I told him to advertise it on eBay or the like.
Again he doesn't do the "internet" so he asked me what I thought it might be worth but ultimately it has to be his decision.
He wants it gone quickly because he needs the garage space for motorbikes.
As for a price - I told him to start at £400 (after all he has done an awful lot of work to it and all the parts are there to complete but he has simply lost the desire to finish it off) and see what it goes too but he says the it isn't all about the money as long as it goes to a good home.
If anybody is interested please pm me for contact number.

Re: Project series 2 up for sale
Have you PM'd Cliff (chc on here).
It will go out of your outbox to your sent box when Cliff opens it.
He will also have an email from the server to tell him a PM is waiting.
Cheers
Codge.

Hi
Yeah I pm'd earlier.
I have been on forums before where you can't send pm's until you have posted 5 times.
I was unsure if that was the case here as well.
Cheers for the reply.
Andrew.
