Post by mc turbo »

it even says 35mm lowring springs on the box but after they were fitted i hardly noticed any difference as b 4 i could put 3 fingers between the top of the tyre & the arch, after the drop i can fit 2 fingers so it looks like its dropped 15mm max! so im very dissapointed & wanted to warn people about buying PI springs!

Get a few miles on it, they may well settle a bit.

If your springs on the car were the original items (and they probably were, you may well have had sag in the springs. Iknow mine were and I ended up with more of a drop in rear height than front because the original springs had sagged and there's more weight over the front to cause that anyway.

Some new sets can take up to 1000 miles to really settle ... give it a couple of months at least. Mine took a good 7-800 miles before they settled down properly.

I bought the PI springs also. Only fitted to the rear thus far and I would say it dropped the rear around 20mm so similar results to what you describe Mick.
All in all i'm happy with mine as I replaced them more for the improved spring rate than aesthetics. Looking forward to replacing the front struts and springs over the coming weeks and seeing the final result.

35mm lower than a new stock spring, not 35mm lower than a 30 year old spring that has settled over time i suppose.

I would agree with Mr Biznatch too, the suggested drop is compared to a new stock spring. Ours are approaching 30 years old and were never designed to function for that amount of time. I mean, parts of me are getting saggy now (not the best bits obviously)

Reviving this thread as i've now put a hundred miles or so on since fitting the front springs and shocks also. I've noticed a very harsh ride in the rear when going over bumps - the front seems fine, but a very harsh bang at the rear when going over potholes and speed bumps. I will investigate further but wanted to ask if anyone has had problems hitting the bumpstops using PI lowering springs? I'll cut the bump stops if it turns out to be the case, not sure what else it could be :?

Have you checked that the top mounts for the rear shocks are tightened down properly? If there's up/down movement there, that would cause a good bang for a start.
