My RX-7
Re: My RX-7
Few new pictures taken today. Excuse me for car being so dirty, a good detailing is next up (wash, clay, polish..)
Test fitted gauges to radio hole. Some kind of masking plate is needed to make it look better. Gauges are all mechanical as I thought they would suit to car better than modern flashy ones.

Tried to took few pictures of tire fitment (ain´t that what car forums are all about these days ) Though this might upset some of younger car enthusiast. Idea on wide rear tire on narrow wheel was to make it look more of style of 80´s

Re: My RX-7
I was in Helsinki for a weekend last summer. We took a day trip to Soumenlinna as I wanted to see the Finnish navy WW2 submarine. A very interesting place with all the old russian made canons and even older fortress. On the car front, I was expecting to see 850R's, 99 turbo's, 240T's etc but I was out of luck. Did see quite a few old camaro's, mustangs and impalas which was unexpected plus a mk2 cortina which looked very out of place.Viljami wrote:Didn´t know answer to this question and made some researchcodge wrote:Without wishing to touch on possibly sensitive history, is that perhaps the Russian influence?Finland used to have "right hand drive" until 1858 as Czar of Russia converted traffic to be left handed. Back at that time Finland was mostly forest and cities were relatively small comparing to other parts of europe, so transition wasn´t as dramatic as in Sweden. As with finnish history there isn´t anything sensitive about Russia at age of Czars. At that time first railroads were built in Finland and Finland were given own currency etc. Sensitive parts come from World War II with Soviet Union but that is whole another story.
Anyway, Helsinki was a nice city to visit and we are hoping to spend some more time there when it's warmer.

Glad that you liked it! Glad that you get to see finnish cruising culture too. Back in 80´s and 90´s a lot of american classics were imported to FInland and there´s still lot of them around eventhough many cars are sold to another countries. To be honest Helsinki really isn´t greatest place to look at Finnish car culture. In smaller cities and countryside people are more into cars than there in general. 99 Turbo Saab is really rare car even here, actually any 99 is becoming rare. As growing trend here are Japanese imported cars. Actually Nissan Skylines are so common that its not special in anywayKiwiDave wrote:I was in Helsinki for a weekend last summer. Re: My RX-7
LOL same thing with second hand jap imports happened to New Zealand in the mid 80's. NZ had a huge new vehicle assembly industry for decades so most cars came in CKD kits and were assembled there. The whole industry was protected by big sales taxes on CBU imported vhicles.
New Government policy relaxed the sales taxes and killed the assembly business virtually overnight. The influx of 2nd hand imports was huge and NZ was, for a while, the largest importer per capita in the world! The down side was a Skyline or Legacy/WRX on every third driveway as they became commonplace.

Ya, we have lots of muscle cars, old classic Ford´s and some quite rare cars here. Finns love old cars.
 Finns love old cars.
Btw, next time you are coming here, give us heads up. Helsinki is crap. We can show you better towns and our car scene. 100km north from Helsinki is town called Hämeenlinna (where I live), we have awesome track here called Ahvenisto. Also we have old castle and few military museums. Would be happy to show you some places, afterall rotarys and military history is my passion

I live 100 km west from Helsinki and there is a lot to see in here too =) There´s no racetrack in my city but a lot winding backroads by sea (which may be used in same manner
) Also a lot of untouched nature etc.

Quick update on my RX-7.
Last time I posted pictures here car looked very dull and was in need of good polish. Done that few times after that and finally I´m happy with results. Also I got rid of last early 2000´s tuner parts in interior as I found subtle looking shift knob finally.

Hope you like pics. On the last one you can see very detailed toy car that I found in American Car Show few weeks ago

Re: My RX-7
Looks nearly same as my german S3 but you never got LSD in germany. Only 2,5 bar oil-pressure at. 4000U/min is not much(cold engine?).Viljami wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Zk7uTua41wGhostkls wrote:It is amazing what some polish and elbow grease can do for a car. The watertemperature and fuel-tank display does not work?
Sound of the new exhaust system is cool and deep

 Nice car, very good basic.
Interesting country no Police no radar only nature

Yes engine wasn´t warm enough when that video was shot. I fixed water temperature gauge later but fuel gauge haven´t worked on time I´ve own this car. On radio hole I´m going to install Water- and oil temperature & oil pressure gauge, just to be sure.
I would say Germany is even better countr for drivers with heavy foot
