The oldest car on the day by some margin, and making one ask the question "what actually defines a supercar?". A Citroen B2 manufactured in 1919 but not actually registered till 1922









There was a bloke there selling furniture made from car seats and crankshafts and whatnot. Very top kwol schmutter, though I couldn't quite stretch to the £1200 for a Bentley armchair or £2k for a Rolls Bench seat sofa! Conrad and Niah-cat field tested them though and found them satisfactory.








Bristols ancient and modern; what I think is a 401 convertible and the new Dodge Viper-powered gullwinged Fighter.

Lamborghini Countach engine bay...quite clearly says "Lamborghini" on the rocker covers...

...I thought Countachs were powered by that glorious Bizzarrini-designed V12? Surely this has four too few cylinders? Chevrolet badge on the nose betrays the true story

Noble appears to have an intercooled chargecooler. Interesting setup!





Is this Senna-liveried NSX an official Limited Edition or something? I know he was meant to be involved in the development, was this commemorated with a personalised model?









Pagoda-roof SL is hardly what we'd think of as a supercar... or even a sportscar nowadays, but does look damned fine in immaculate white







Monsieur Ambassador, with these multiple De Tomasos you are surely spoiling us...











Still crazy after all these years; humble Reliant-built Ford one of the most popular cars on the day, judging by how rammed it was around it all morning!

Nice to see it's not just RX-8s that accumulate a condensation fishpond in the rear lights. McLaren Mercedes SLR seems to suffer too. 722 badging refers, of course, to the race number of the original Mille Miglia-winning SLR







Couple of SLS provide an understated Mercedes presence; if a 6.5 litre gullwing-doored supercar can be considered understated





Shortlived but extremely capable Spectre R34 project is another sad demise in the British small-volume car makers litany





















Impressive new Corvette C7 reintroduces the Stingray name. Opel Manta A wants its fish badges back...



















Old Jag meets modern Jag; supercharged XKR lump (just) fits perfectly!









Genuine V12 Vanwall ex-Formula 1 car converted to road use, and driven here today. Simply breathtaking, car of the day all ends up



























Rolls-Royce were there (well, it's only half a mile down the road form their factory) demonstrating the impressive new Wraith. Conrad gives it the seal of approval!

wow, some properly nice cars there...... NSX, Testarossa, XJS, some of my favourite cars.... also nice to see the ramraiders chariot of choice, the Lotus Carlton too. It always amuses me that when I look at a Countach, Esprit or Lagonda, I expect the interior and dash to look really futuristic and high tech and then I glance inside, it looks like it's been built by a five year old with a collection of empty cereal boxes.Fair play to whoever shoehorned that supercharged V8 into that old Jag...... great engineering there.

I don't think so. I think people are maybe waking up to seeing beyond all the negative and comedic connotations with them. Yeah, they may be a really bad engineering compromise, and built from rubbish components by a hopelessly out-of-it's depth workforce, designed and executed far too quickly and with many underdeveloped technologies that perhaps ought to have been held back and refined... but that doesn't stop them being a true motoring icon and a car that transcends pretty much all boundaries on some level or other. I think they're fantastic for all kinds of reasons, despite not actually being a very good car

Nice collection of pics there Nik. That 3.0 CSL is the nuts. apart from the drug dealer chrome arches which I've never liked on any BMW

Special likes for the Montreal as well ... never seen one in blue either.

Yeah, the 3.0 CSL Batmobile is one of few Bimmers I actually like, mainly cos it's so bonkers. However, the colour on that one and all the chrome does make it especially challenging, lol. Lucky to see a Montreal in any colour, what with the usual Alfa electrics and tin worm having long since claimed most of them. I've seen that particular one a few times now. It was at the last Goodwood meet last year, when my daughter pulled off one of the best photobombs ever as I was trying to photograph it;
