thats good news.
was the fuel not getting into the engine or was it the excess redex that caused her to turn over for so long?
excuse my ignorance as i dunno much about starting 1st gens.
learnt a few things from you already, especially the turning the engine over with no fuel pump sparkies to get the oil
pressure up. i suppose the with my rx8 i'm spoiled lol. but a start up routine for an fb thats been sitting about would be
very handy if one could be made up and posted?

Nice one. Good pulses too. It seems to be the fuel systems that deteroriate more than anything else. That fuel tank will be full of all sorts of junk I suspect.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

Re: My latest project.... 1984 silver series 3
this one's so original that it's going to stay standard... or I might just put my spare Elford setup into it but no body mods or anything.... I don't want to do anything to it that isn't easily reversible back to stock.....captainbizzaro wrote:What does the future hold for this one then Ian.....13B turbs?![]()
The upside of this quest to stay original is that I can go a bit more radical on my black car....for now the priority with the black fb is to sort the suspension.... it handles like a shopping trolley at the moment so I'm going to put the polys on over the winter and maybe some of those tasty racing beat springs to drop it an inch.... that should tighten things up nicely.

1984 silver series 3 ... out of hibernation
took advantage of the warm sunny weather today to get the interior out and shampoo it...
It's in fantastic condition for it's age but has a damp smell about it.... as the car's been standing and has developed some leaks letting the water inside in a couple of places... I also wanted to get the carpets up to check the floors and I must admit, I was a bit worried about the inner A posts as the windscreen has been leaking.
I took all the seats, carpets, rooflining and trim panels out of the car with the exception of the front section of carpet... too much hassle to get that out from under the console and heater box.
I took the front seats out...

and then the back seat...

the car has obviously been looked after... it was the cleanest interior I've ever seen when stripping to trim.... no sticky sweets, biros or hair clips.... this was all I found...

a fuse, a penny and a 1988 parking pass... an a paper clip I vac'd up.
The floors are excellent as are the A&B posts. The car has been heavily waxoiled inside these sections and the sills and this has helped keep the rust at bay.

The interior drying in the warm October weather!

the front seats... no wear on these...

above the glovebox, on that metal rail, I found the handbooks...

and a few tax discs including the last one issued to this car as confirmed by the DVLA database...

All the plastic and vinyl trim was cleaned with antibacterial wipes and the trim was refitted to the car.... it's a whole lot sweeter in there now....

nice colour.
you make it look so easy ian lol.
i really think this was the best interior colour, followed by the tan interior you get in the opal green models.
anything but grey lol.
