Hello! RX-7 Series 2 1983 owner from Philippines.

Post by filmetal »

Hello every one. I'm Fil and I'm from Philippines. I just acquired a 1983 RX-7 two days ago, one car I've been chasing for sometime. Too few of them are still running here. Most are running with piston engine and some are already heavily modified. I chanced upon an all original one with unfinished metal and paint job. The owner just lost enthusiasm on his project and wants to recoup some of the money he poured into it. I didn't hesitate and now I have one RX-7 project to work with every weekend. I have restored few cars before. Done a Datsun 280zx and will be completing my Celica RA28 projects in few weekends. Most of the parts and accessories for these cars are very hard to come by here, so I sourced them from the US. From these projects, I've learned that groups and forums are treasure chest for knowledge and information. So even before I owned an RX-7 I already drop by here and done some reading and some research. Thank you guys for the invaluable information I easy find here.
Now, for my "new" RX-7, It still has the original 12a engine and as I see it, it looks physically okay with all the parts in place. I could not say much as this is my first rotary engine. The wiring harness need to be check thoroughly as I see some disconnected wires and missing relays. I have to start learning about the engine, gather all necessary information I need to know even before I will try starting it. The interior needs major restoration. I need to start finding all the plastics & panels, rubber seals & weather strips, all chrome materials to bring back this car to how it looks before. The body was already worked with just some tiny details that I noticed that I need to redo. The paint jobs is good but I dont like the tone of the "yellow" that they used. It will be repainted with the "yellow" that I like better. I have not looked under the chassis yet, I might find some surprises there. Anyways, I will not be starting on the actual work on the car, but I have to start learning about the car and its engine. I know I found the best place to do it and I'll be asking for your guidance guys. Thank you for accepting me here. Have a nice one you all.
