Steering idler arm bushes

Hi,just bought a loverly 85 model reg C399JAT in sunrise red 43k I have allways wanted one,the engine has fascinated me for a long time.Very pleased with the smooth power delivery and comfortable driving position.
But have found the steering idler arm bushes are worn,and the local main agents carnt help,its not on there computers.Does any one the part number of repair kit.

Hi, welcome to the forum, good to hear you've bought a 1st gen and are already enjoying it.
Forget about genuine Mazda idler arm bushes, they don't last 5 minutes and you will then have vague steering again.
Poly bushes are the way to go......they are durable and are basically fit and forget...... a few of us have bought from this seller and they are highly recommended.....

It's a 15 minute job to change the bushes yourself, very easy.

Most Mazda main dealers are pretty hopeless these days in respect of 1st gen RX7's..... there are exception of course but some dealers don't even have access to the microfiche for the part numbers any more. The factory parts manuals are here...

it's best to find the part number yourself and then go to the dealer and see if they can still source the part for you.....

As Ian says,very easy fix.
If you can hang on a couple of weeks I have the Part No. back at home, but alternatives would be just as good if not better.

Meanwhile do please let us have a rough location for the location list.

You're welcome. And thanks for location. The present Jan 14 list in spotter's corner is getting out of date. I keep promising a new one......I promise.

From memory you just need to dismantle the idler assembly and unbolt the idler arm from the chassis to wiggle the bits free.
(No need to break open any steering joints).
