Sadly not this time! Made that mistake helping out a friend with his car a while back.... I have now gotten into the habit of taping bolts and washers to their home while waiting to be put back together, since then I find that I need extra nuts and bolts rather than having spares left over.
I just remembered, you're running a S5 donk. These don't use the shims. unless you have a FB water pump housing, in which case I suspect you do need the shims. I can't see which pump hopusing you've got from the pics.
It's pretty hard to pinch the water pump to block gasket.
Weird things happening is what I do best! I believe it is an S5 pump but with that said, I had 2 washer/shims about 2mm thick that came from 2 of the bolts that went into the block that were between the pump and block. But it also looks to me like someone has ground away at parts of the pump so anything is possible at this point....
I will check, I think I took pics of the block when it was all apart so might have pics of the shims.
The deeper I look the more I seem to find from previous owners messing around with the poor car.
On the plus side, I cut a new gasket last night, blotted it all up and .... NO LEAKS!!!
I have come to realize this RX7 has had a MUCH harder life than I believed it had....
Does anyone have any cheaper ways of getting some stuff to South Africa from the US? I wanted to order a single roll of pin striping tape with a total weight of 0.3 pounds and they want to charge $45 to send it to SA..... Any advice would be great!
Maybe a US member on here might buy it for you and ship it out using US mail service? Just a thought.
From UK Royal Mail would charge just a fraction of that postage for a small package to our 'World Zone 1'.
Good to see the pin stripe craze is back buddy! That's my Silver FB in the top banner; they all pull my leg about the stripe.
Or are you doing something else?
I want to put a pin stripe down the side of my RX7, clean red stripe to compliment the white and black. But the main reason I want to buy from the US is because they have a copper and gold stripe needed for a bike I am busy spraying and after 4 months of searching I managed to find the exact colour combination and dimensions of striping that the bike came with from the factory.... Now to get it to SA.
So my RX7 has been asleep in the garage for almost a month and figured this would be the perfect time to do a little experiment.....
Below is a clip of the first attempt to start up the RX7. Battery was never disconnected and the only thing done prior to deciding to do the clip was priming the fuel pump as I have found it tends to get an airlock when standing for more than a couple weeks. Sorry about the sound quality, the echo in my garage ruined that part....
