Bonjour from Champaign, IL

Post by galbreathn2 »

Hello all,

I recently came upon an 81 RX-7, and in the course of fixing it up a bit (it had been stored for ~10 years before I bought it) naturally I came across this website and thought I'd join the club.

Welcome! Is it needing much work done to it before you get it running nicely at all? :)

It's already back on the road. Actually, when I bought it, it was drivable, but just barely. I took a compression tester to it to make sure the engine seals were all good before buying it. After driving it home I rebuilt the carburetor. I got really nervous when I put it back on and it barely got any better. It turned out that the spark plugs were toast. One set of plugs later and it runs like new.

At this point I'm still just working out all the little issues. I've got to pull the carb off again and figure out why the accelerator pump isn't working. I posted in the suspension subforum about another issue already.

I was just about to take pictures after I checked this thread again, but the sun already went down.
