Re: Over Rev Warning Buzzer S3
isn't the low coolant warning an intermittent sound, a bit like the 'lights left on' warning, rather than a buzzer?

Re: Over Rev Warning Buzzer S3
This is a cluster that I stripped Pete.....

I seem to remember ( although I'm not 100%) that the big brass looking thing on the back of the cluster is the over rev buzzer and the small white square one is the 'lights on' / low coolant chime

Re: Over Rev Warning Buzzer S3
Am I right saying there are 2 Bullet connectors on the Buzzer? If so I guess one or both might have been disconnected. Being that you know the amount of space behind the clocks, would you say that a very small hand (mine) might reach up behind the cluster for a quick feel of the connectors without taking out the cluster first

I would say probably not, it's very difficult to access ... worth a try though if you've got fingers like E.T.

Better than that, I have one of these small Bosch camera scopes I use for work so it will be ideal for this taskian65 wrote:I would say probably not, it's very difficult to access ... worth a try though if you've got fingers like E.T.

I will keep you info'd of the result, thanks

Re: Over Rev Warning Buzzer S3
Instrument Cluster removed & all looked OK, tried another cluster but still no BUZZING!!
I did find 1 U/S illumination bulb so replaced it, not a complete waste of 2hrs
So back to the drawing board
I think next step is to check all connector blocks as I found 1 faulty causing the Indicators/Flashers to work intermittently.

Re: Over Rev Warning Buzzer S3
oh no sorry thats not sorted it, do you have wiring diagrames? imagine its just taking a feed from the rev counter to trigger the buzzer?

Re: Over Rev Warning Buzzer S3
The wires to the buzzer are quite heavy compared to the lights on buzzer, I guess it must be fed direct via loom from a relay?mpk490p wrote:oh no sorry thats not sorted it, do you have wiring diagrames? imagine its just taking a feed from the rev counter to trigger the buzzer?
The Haynes wiring diagram is not very helpful.

Re: Over Rev Warning Buzzer S3
as part of my quest to solve various electrical gremlins on my S3, I today changed the clocks for another set, a consequence of which is that with this set of clocks, the over rev buzzer doesn't work.
I've been having a look at the rear of the clocks trying to suss out what the issue could be.
This pic shows the rear of the clocks and the over-rev buzzer...

and a close up...

The supply to the buzzer comes from the rear of the rev counter, circled here in red. If you follow the track on the pcb you can see it goes to the buzzer.

the pick up point for the buzzer on the rev clock can be seen here circled in red...

this circuit board only controls the rev clock, the volt meter is a stand alone gauge that has its own circuit... the pot visible in the top left hand corner is used to adjust when the buzzer kicks in...

this rev clock is a JDM 12at version with a turbo boost gauge built in but the rev clock is the same across all S3's

Still trying to work out what could be causing the buzzer to stop working.
This diagram shows how to adjust when the buzzer comes on if you want to rev the nuts off it without being reminded to change up
