I still cant find that pesky little leak... from what I've gathered it could have rotted out underneath the A pillar in that little "hidden" area. I stuck my head under the dash after stripping the interior to find rust and I cant find much, there's a small bit underneath the dash, I removed all screen trim... Its fine there, checked all visible drain holes, all are flowing and draining fine. I still have to remove the wings to check there underneath the a pillars??? I ran water down the windscreen to try pinpoint it.

Thanks DKWW2000 I'll do that. Thanks HobbaWobba, my plans are really just to enjoy it and modernise it a little, and James.... I'd almost move country just so I could drive my car
It sucks owning it and not being able to drive it... soon though.... soon... All I want to do is drive it... At least its pretty to look at
my dad drives it anyway, so at least I can be a passenger... Its a struggle to get insurance on my daily which is a 1.1 citroen c2. All us young male drivers are stuck in little econo-boxes for the first few years of driving. I wasnt expecting to get insurance on the 7 until I was 21 anyway

Re: Working 3 jobs finally paid off!
Right.... been meaning to post sooner, been stupid busy with my leaving cert exams... they are finally over! I did'nt let myself near the car until I had these exams done with, trying to stay focused, which is difficult when you've the attention span of a gnat
Anyway, I've have a slight rust issue...

This is rear right side arch, screw driver does go through the crispy metal

This is under the dash left side, it lets water in which lead to this a drain hole in the floor, it was not in great nick on the left side.

It could be a lot worse though! I at least have the floor fixed and now have the car in garage

Great photos there Kian, I love the look of this car, it's stunning.... what a great colour
Chasing rust is a miserable experience but has to be done.... makes it all worthwhile though when you can get the car out on the road.

I would think every car that's ever travelled on bad roads in UK winters has that rear arch problem sooner or later.
Hey though, it's a great looking Series 2 car. I like that Cherry Red?? better than Maya Gold.
Not that I don't like Maya Gold.....I do.

Thanks guys! All I can tell you about the colour is its off a slightly newer model Mazda, the previous owner could not give paint codes, which is not helpful because the family got a new puppy who liked to run up the front of my car
making good work of the paint on the bonnet and around the base of the windscreen with his paws
Thinking of having a crack at fixing the bad areas of paint myself, no harm in trying (famous last words
)
Still have to get around to paying the vrt, its 200 euro I think... cars over 30 years old are much cheaper to vrt.
Very true Ian, the rust could be much worse, I'm surprised at how well the car hid these nasties when it was on a lift! Me and a mechanic went over it twice looking for rust on the under side, I didnt see all these until the interior was out.

Re: Working 3 jobs finally paid off!
So between work, college and helping the family fix up a house they bought a few months ago I have not had time or money for the Reva. After that incident with the engine running dog rough in the middle of a drive it sat in my garage for 3 months, 2 weeks ago I brought it to a mechanic (which I thought was for a bad carburettor). He did a compression test and looks like my engines had it
It's not done more than 1000 miles since I bought it!
So what do I do? Anyone with experience what would you advise?
Look at rebuilding the 12a? look for 13b? I know of 2 FB's up the country that are badly rusted, have no idea what kind of condition the engines are in though.
Thanks guys.
