Non runner project
Re: Non runner project

Rust in usual places but nothing major quite good under arches and sills so hoping I can get it running and then can start the rest of the work as you can see I'm building a nice little stable for the 3 rx7s so hoping its water tight in a week or two then can keep cover off it and have a good nose around

Could the problem be between the ignition and the seat?Robsrx7 wrote:anyone any ideas
Seriously though, you want an internet diagnosis....... here goes.
You've not flooded it, it wants more fuel. Pump the pedal a few times before cranking it. Pump it twice as much. Then crank it some more.
I've never flooded a rotor.
Try that.
The other thing to check is that the dizzy is lined up right.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......
Re: Non runner project
Cheers tool I'll wait for the rain to stop and go try again after I've let the battery charge up a little, tried some easy start before but still no joy I'll give it hell on the pedal later and see how I go

Re: Non runner project
Hi,
I use to get a "non starting" problem on my RE 5 if I ran out of fuel before switching to reserve in time, the cause I believe was oil fouling the plug! I would get a spark with the plug out but not under compression
I had to clean the plug (in thinners & then heat it first) before it would start :x
She then ran lumpy until the rotor had cleaned itself. Thereafter always carried New clean spare plugs in/on all my rotaries
On a Ro 80 I had (before the engine was rebuilt), if she would not fire up I cleaned the plugs after trying to start then squirt a little bit of thick oil (gearbox lube) spin her over a couple of times to get a seal then put hot plugs back in & she usually fired up.
I hope this may help, as Tool stated on line diagnosis is very difficult
regards Pete

Re: Non runner project
Well I got a bang lol
and it was a loud one so after I settle the baby back down and let the battery charge a little more I'll give her another go. Cheers for advice I'll try everything to get this thing running as I have 2 fds and this fb and non of them ready for summer can't do anymore shows in the wife's insignia.

Re: Non runner project
It sounds a bit like there could be a timing problem, double check you have the Coil/Plug HT leads in correct order

Re: Non runner project
Will be checking them tomorrow Im waiting for dizzy rotor arm and leads And new fuel filter can't be sure of anything with this one as don't know the bloke who started some of the work so may also drain the tank even though the petrol smells ok and looks clean enough.. Fingers crossed it runs within a week or two so can move it to get a bit of welding sorted while I finish the garage roof. It's a real pain in the ass but I love it
Cheers for the help
Cheers for the help
Re: Non runner project
Still no joy as yet letting the battery charge for a while before I go cranking again, I've drained the fuel put some fresh in and changed the filter, does any know what litres per min the pump should be putting out as it looks a little weak
