Episode 1 was the carb... I rebuilt it and achieved idle... which she wasn't doing before. Win.
Episode 2:
Once she's warm, I give it some gas and the rpms either stop mid rise, or die out once I let go of the pedal.
1st I flushed the coolant since I had only water in there due to searching for a leak, leak plugged. Then I installed a new fuel pump and filter. Problem persists.
Question 1: how do I purge the cooling system of air? I'm sure there is some in there.
Question 2: where do I look next? Could it be a vacuum leak?
Any answers would help, thanks ahead of time.

Re: 81 project... episode 2
Purging the system is really just a matter of 'squidging' the top hose when the system is just getting hot, in order to push any remaining air into the expansion bottle.
Obviously the expansion bottle needs to be fully up to the mark with coolant so that as she cools back down coolant is sucked back into the rad instead of air.
Just repeat a few times.
