Re: Vyv - my series 3

Some good news today :)

After a few months with Garath (poor old chap has been fitting this in around all the other cars that come in, and his social life) good old Vyv rolled out of the workshop yesterday...rear sills, inner arches, and chassis rails all welded, rear skirts fabricated and fitted.
I felt so sorry for Garath, two tiny holes in one inner arch turned into some massive sections of steel going in...been here before on this one!

I fitted up some rebuilt rear calipers, nice to have good stoppers on every corner
now it just needs filling, sanding, priming, and painting. Looks like I have 2 free days and a couple of evenings, so it should be possible...I think the paint will go on the day before Retro Rides

The best news really, is that it passed the MOT this morning...so painted or not, we'll be there :D

That Gareth is a God.
I've said it last time. When he turned bits of tin into after market parts and welded everything together.

Well done all.

Managed to get the car stripped, masked, painted, and back together in my day off last week...just got to re-trim the door cards one evening and we're good to go :)

Tarps up, extraction running, masked and ready...

All done, looks better than last time, I think :?

It's metallic, but oddly very textured...maybe it needs a clearcoat...oh well, maybe next time, it'll do for now :)

thanks Ian, but I think determination is closer to it than patience

It wasn't that bad really, I did cheat a bit...didn't bother with the shuts this time as I figured the colour would be close enough, although I was still finishing up at 9.30, I think poor Karissa thought I wasn't coming home!

Garath's rear skirt jobbies look great, went from this mix of blues greys and primer...

to this...

The colour is definitely lighter, and I think it works better, I like the contrast with the black trim :)

Not sure, seems you keeping the window frame black too. This detail is important in my eyes. Even the black under the hatchback.
