hello frank
i'm from the north, seen your ad looking an fb.
there is a blue s2 in monaghan which looked quite nice. most of the nice ones are biggish money and finding one for much less is very difficult.
i know of a lhd one in white and one in silver but dunno if owners would part with them. problem is unless they have been greased/oiled underneath
you'll find it tricky getting something tidy. i've been there and done that lol.
there is a red s3 in newry also, but i'd have to try and see if i kept the contact details. it was very tidy though.

Re: Introduction
I had a look at the blue one in Monaghan it's got rust in the usual spots and I just wasn't convinced I wanted it when I seen the car I'd like something with a bit less rust if I can at all find one. The longer I wait the more of a budget I'll have. I'd have to have a RHD one too the LHD wouldn't suit. If you can at all find out about the red s3 I'd really appreciate that. Thanks for the information.spoddy wrote:hello frank

Re: Introduction
I know its a xxxxxx to wait man, but if I were you, I'd just keep putting money away to buy a very good one, or bring one in from Japan. You won't be long spending a few grand on one with lots of rust, shot suspension etc.
EDIT from Admin......please keep serious swearing off here.

That's the one he went to look at Ian. Surprised that it is as rusty as he says, as it looks very clean. Pictures can be deceiving, eh!

That blue one has rust at rear suspension mounts where they all go, backs of the sills have rust and drivers a pillar has rust it could be fixed but I'd prefer not to have to if ya get me. I'm in no rush to get one with winter in now it won't be driven anyway so I might just hold of Lile Jason is saying. Worth having the wanted add up anyway just in case a hidden gem does pop up.

Re: Introduction
To be honest Frank, if you want something really tidy then I'd look at importing from Japan as even tidy ones I've seen have either been resprayed or are honest and are starting to show signs of rust in the usual places ie not perfect.
Alot of the fellas on here have good clean cars but they spend time and money ensuring the rust monster is kept at bay. I have been advised too by people to check out importing one as I'd save thousands in having to weld one up. FB's hide their rust too, so its either repair a cheaper one or spend £5000 on a really really tidy one and have it all rust prevented ie wax oil everywhere.
The only other i can think of is the white one in England on piston heads if still there. Or is it the car and classic web site there is a white 84 for under four grand. I think you need 84 to bypass that Vrt you have, though as we are coming into 2016 so a late 85 might be OK.
If you are in no rush just keep saving but check out the Japanese car auctions or an importer near you and see what gems might be for sale. A nice late 12a turbo would be great to have with air con etc, something special and will hold its value.
