Hi to everyone from west coast Canada! I have an '84 GSL that I bought from a guy in Langley this summer and I've just gotten around to digging into it. It looks pretty complete, down to the plastic wheel well liners and everything. There's some nasty rust in a few places and a terrible bodged exhaust system but is otherwise straight and stock.

The engine starts and runs, though the carb could definitely use some attention. I see it pulling fuel strongly through one primary but hardly any through the other. I'm optimistically hoping this is just a clogged jet and not a sign of low compression but that's no big deal. The 12A isn't in the plans for this car as it's getting a FC turbo ii front end and '94 mustang GT rear end with lsd and discs of course.

Body work and rust repair is the first order of the day, I've already started on a little sheet metal repair and replacing a damaged passenger side door with one that came with the car. Plans for the car include jpn garage ZG flares to accommodate the 6" and 5" front and rear width increase that comes with the new suspension and the 17x8 mustang wheels.

There are four cars in there somewhere. Disclaimer, just moved into this garage from a lever garage.

8.8 mustang axle with 3.73 gears if the seller is to be believed. There are easy big brake upgrades and a big aftermarket for this axle. It also gives me the same 5x114.3 lug pattern as my old FCs front end which will be steering and stopping this car! Yes, I know those wheels are ugly!

Progress?

Cardboard assisted development.

Etc etc

More of the same.

That's more or less it so far! Interior will be mostly stripped, caged etc as this car will be drag raced, road raced and entered in hill climb events around the northwest. Also congratulations to anyone who made it to the end of this post!

Thanks! I posted this using my phone in a desktop mode so sometimes it does things like that.

A little about myself, I'm a bit of a jack of all trades fabricator working at a small cnc machine shop. I do my own mechanical work, paint and bodywork and make my own parts where necessary. I have a garage dedicated to this and other project cars.

I should note the overall wheel width increase is 6"/150mm rear and 5" front when swapping the suspension and using 17x8 et30 wheels, I had said 6/5 front and rear which is backwards. The mustang axle has a center bore of 70mm so not all 5x114.3 wheels will fit either. YMMV.
