New member from Southern Washington!!

Post by AshleyDai »

Hello! New member here from the Washington/Oregon border in the U.S.!

My name is Ashley and I just picked up a 1985 Rx7 about a month ago. I traded my (parts) Supras transmission for it. I have never owned anything other than Toyota, so I am new to pretty much everything rx7. It runs and drives, it's really clean sans the garbage paint job. But the body is really straight. Came with a spare 12a. Pretty good deal on my end. Also got some doors, exterior pieces, and a second set of wheels.

I have always wanted one, so I am excited. The forums have become a huge go to for me. Definitely taking in as much info as I can.

I don't post much. I like to sit back and observe, read what others have to say. So I am not sure how often I will be posting on here.

Hi Ashley
Welcome.

The second set of wheels is 13inch series 2. I would guess your '85 car is series 3, normally with 14inch wheels, like in UK?
Those wheels on your car are retrofit (15inch from the sidewall).
Also the lug fixings are nuts/bolts S3/S2, different PCD.
So spare wheels won't fit.
Check it out and let me know if I'm wrong on this.

Depending on the model - GS, GSL, GSL-SE - it can be a mix of our UK models S1 S2 S3.
I would guess that it is a GSL which means it has a S3 body with S2 running gear, so yes pcd will be 110.
Nice Enkei wheels by the way, period correct and worth a bit too i would guess. They'll polish up nicely.

As far as I know in the USA there was only one model sold witha 4x114.5 lug pattern. That would be the GSL-SE with the 13B engine. So both sets of wheels should match the car.

...If you don't need the Enkeis I'm still searching such wheels... h[b[ -haha-

Those are Enkie 92s. You can still buy them new, so no retro wheels.

But yes, GS or GSL with 4x110 running gear etc.

The design is old. The Enkei 92 wheels were allready available 20 years ago. That's what counts for the TÜV in Germany. BUUUUT as always no luck for me. The 4x110 version went out of production long ago and Enkei won't reproduce them with that lug pattern.

Allready asked the TÜV guys about adaptors. They won't allow them because of no papers. I guess I'll have to move to an other country...
