Hey guys, new to the forum. Don't have an FB but would totally love to and hopefully I will get one once I have bought a bigger place with a garage to put one in it.

Not new to the rotary world, a few years back I owned an RX8 231 which I loved.









It was a great car and a real peach too. Only had 23k on the clock and the engine was spot on so no worries at all in the 12 months I ran it. I did however misjudge the amount of fuel that the car drank even with the small commute I had in a week. Family car it wasn't despite how practical it was so it had to go.

The only RX7 related item I have is my drift RC car that I painted like the JDM legends car





I loved the car that much, I was lucky that the shell dimensions fitted the Yokomo RC car I had and decided to try and paint it like the real car. I was quite happy with the results.

Anyhow, I will keep looking on here at posts and try to interact with you guys as it is useful information to read with the possibility of getting an FB in the future. I'd love to fix one up in my spare time with my daughter (try and get her into getting her hands dirty) and learn some stuff together on the way. It's a pity that an FB has come up on ebay locally that needs fixing up but I don't have the funds to buy one right now...Damn

hi mate

welcome from a fellow rx8 owner. i have an 04 winning blue rx8 and just rolled over 103000 miles, original engine.they are really good cars if looked after properly, all rotaries are petrol drinkers, so expect even worse in an fb.

but lots of folk on here who have an fb and can help you out with any queries you have.
mostly its getting one with minimal rust. the engines are a 12a so about 115 bhp compared to the 6 port 13b 228bhp rx8, but they are no slouch believe me as been in a few and as they are so light are very quick.

go take a drive in one if you can as they are great cars but no power steering, so the rx8 would have spoiled you.

FB petrol consumption....I get 22/23 or thereabouts, always Captain Slow creeping about though.

The most impressive veg I know is the Parsnip. (That's excluding the Tomato which is technically a fruit I believe).
So in a roundabout way I'm saying shall we call you Parsnip?

Still to own an rx8, I'm tempted to buy one and lock it away, not for money reasons but in 15 years it will be rare and cool.... Well to me at least plus there so cheap now!

I sprinted the RX8 in the Toyota Sprint Series a few times. Before owning the 8 I did two seasons of the TSS in my old race/show/daily car that unfortunately is now rotting on my drive and mostly all of it sold off

Now i'm driving an IS220d as my daily which is very nice but it's not quick or exciting do I hope to get an FB for a project to satisfy my need for motor fun

The most fun I had was with another old car I had a for a few years...My old Datsun 100a

some nice cars you got there.
the datsun looks lovely and i love those gull wing type doors.

i remember those toyotas and think there was a gold one from a motor show someone
attended where a long traffic delay into the show caused a few to overheat etc.

i see you had one of the special rx8's with built in sat nav, how did you get on with it,
i know it was dvd based. i had tinkered with the idea of buying the screen unit and
changing to a tablet so could run one of those maps apps and link it up to the sound
system for music etc.

always like the rx8 in silver, but the winning blue was my favourite colour with the 18
inch silver alloys and side strakes.

seemed very practical too for the baby seat with no b pillar. nice comfy car to cruise
down the motorway in, so smooth.

Cheers guys. The Datsun was an awesome pile of tin. Not a show winner but a real head turner for sure. It was in Retro Car magazine with my good friend's Celica Gen 2 a good while back. He doesn't have the Celica either so it just goes to show how we sometimes just have to let go of our pride and joys when it's needed

My Sera was in Banzai magazine too in 2012 I think. I never thought I would ever get a car of mine in a magazine so getting two of them was just very cool. Don't think it will ever happen again

Yeah the RX8 was a 231 with all the toys apart from the OEM bodykit which I would have liked certainly. The built-in satnav was good. Never had any problems with it, and it had a Europe DVD map too which I never had the chance to use.
