Hello Everybody!!

Post by austin85rx7 »

Well if you couldnt tell, my name's Austin and I drive a 1985 rx7 GSL-SE. I'm 21 years old and am a machinist/welder and a huge car enthusiast on the side. I pretty much work on anything i can get my hands on but my car is specific for drifting. I've heard a lot of rumors about these forums that people who swap motors are considered "out casts." Well i hope thats not the case because my car has a small block Chevy out of a 1997 Camaro, rebuilt with only about 7k on it all together. I dont wana go into to many engine details in case im stepping on some peoples toes. Im not here to despute engines or anything, just want to get information about the car its self from the people who know it best. Heres some pictures!

Welcome Austin,
as i understand is the V8 engine specific for drifting? Do you need more weight in the front for drifting then?
See you cut the fender on the second picture, Interessting look!

thanks man! im a huge fan of simplicity, so when the dash lights went out on the original dash, thought it was a perfect time to make my own!

glad you think so! but its actually an Lt1 (generation before the LS was created) out of a 97 camaro that i rebuilt and put forged piston and a bigger cam in. its never been dynoed, but im sure its around 400hp to the wheels.

the v8 isnt specific for drifting at all, i just love it because it has torque throughout all ranges of rpms. although weight ratios are important, that not the exact reason i picked this motor. my buddy drove the camaro the engine was originally in, but that was ran over by a bus... RIP....
