This car is within driving distance of me, would you guys say its worth a look?
I have a free evening tonight and wouldnt mind going to see this.
I understand that it will probably have a seized up engine and need new brakes and other mechanical work but I am happy to undertake this, if the body is very clean would it be something worth taking a look at?

You need to weigh up whether you want a restoration project or you would like a car that you can just get in and drive.... My advice if it's your first 1st gen rx7 is to buy a car already mot'd but you know what you want.
Realistically this car is going to need at least £500 spending on it, maybe plenty more just to make it reliable and safe to drive. I've recomissioned 2 of these car that have been off the road for 19 yrs and they both needed much the same amount of work. It's unlikely the engine is seized but it needs starting with care and plenty of oil pouring into it to lubricate the surfaces before trying to fire it up. Bodywork is the key to buying these cars and a good rust free body is everything.... See the guide on the forum.... Even so it will need the fuel system stripping and rebuilding, same with the brakes and clutch hydraulics, new battery, new tyres, all new fluids at a minimum.... It's worth a look though

I agree with Ian, my car was off the road for 11 years, in my garage, the fuel and brake systems had to be rebuilt. Remember the more of these cars you look at the better understanding you will have of them, so if its not too far to travel you should go and look, what one person may think is in good order another may consider a wreck.

Thanks for the advice guys, Ill give the owner a call and see whats what, and I'll let you guys know what I find, maybe itll be a goodun thats worth recommissioning (fingers crossed)
