With the engine back on the stand I turned my attention to the front and rear oil pressure regulators...

First I took the front reg apart and shimmed it with a couple of stainless washers to raise the oil pressure...

and then the rear regulator.
This can't be taken apart easily to be shimmed so I took it out from the engine and crushed it in my press to raise its operating pressure....

then re-fitted it to the engine...

Good to see the transplant progressing well, do you have a target date for completion?

hopefully by 2020 so that gives me 3 years... I'm only doing a bit to it occasionally. My job takes up a lot of my time and I'm doing my house up so my other time and money goes into that.... cars are taking a bit of a back seat atm

crush the regulator to much ian, there is a possibility it can not open completely anymore. You can control the piston view in the small drill hole if you push with a screwdriver. I take my air compressor and control how much pressure i need to open the valve. I hope you can understand what i mean.
Impressive process seems you working at your masterpiece.

Started to modify the throttle body yesterday. The S5 TII throttle body has a tertiary set of throttle plates that are there to smooth out throttle transitions but which restrict flow at higher revs.... the engine can be tuned better with the Megasquirt than the stock ECU so these extra plates can go, together with the cold start thermowax assembly, the fast idle cam and spring and front dashpot assembly.

The upper inlet manifold (UIM) on the bench complete with throttle body and bac valve assembly...

Image

The Bypas Air Control (BAC) valve with the brown cap. This will be used for the fast idle when cold, normal idle regulation when warm, and to electronically replace the mechanical dashpot that gets removed with the throttle body mod... it also controls the revs when the a/c is active which is something I want to add to this car...

Throttle body off the UIM...

These are the plates and spindle that need to be removed...

Image

the throttle body needs a real good clean inside and out...

The thermowax assembly removed...

The fast idle cam and spring removed...

The throttle plates being removed...

Followed by this assembly of the front dashpot and the throttle spindle ( Throttle position sensors (TPS) removed for access but refitted after spindle assembly removed)

Image

The throttle body after all the unneeded stuff removed and after an quick initial clean. Just need to tap and plug the redundant throttle spindle holes now.

Image

Also gave the UIM a quick clean and put it all back together temporarily so I don't lose anything...
