belgian '85 low budget fun car

time to start my 'build' topic.

It's a '85 fb s3 bought in holland and then imported to belgium.
I'm the 3rd owner.
Previous owner drove it as a daily and had it repainted burgundy red (it once was silver)



first work was fixing a lot of rust under the backseat an the spare wheel holder.



While the rear axle was removed, i cleaned it and put an anti rust coat on it. after that i put a layer off silver hammerite over it because that pink isn't really my color.


gave the car a full service and put some yellow headlights in an did some meetings.




On 1 of those meetings, the exhaust decided to leave the car so i ordered a full racing beat exhaust. This will be the most expensive part i will buy for the car

I also removed the backseat.
Cut 1 ring of the springs to get it a bit lower. It will be lowered properly in the future
Bought some nice oz wheels in germany from a nissan. Off course these need a repainting as the nissan logo is under the clearcoat.

Now i'm in the middle of rebuilding the rear brakes.
At the same time i removed the diff to get it welded.

Been driving the car a couple days with the welded diff now and it's lots of fun but the suspension really needs some stiffening up.
Just ordered the energy suspension bushing kit. This seems to be the best cheap kit available.
A couple guys on the forum used this and are quite happy about it.

I Have the Same bushings in Mine there not bad altough the Car becomes a little too stiff imo

There is no such thing as 'too stiff'

A few months ago I installed them on my whole rear suspension. The car now feels a lot more together if that makes sense? Haha. Haven't gotten to the front yet

I noticed the outer lens of the right taillight was loose.
because of that there was a lot of dirt between the outer en inner lenses so it was best to take them apart.


the mirrors were very dirty too:


gave everything a good clean.
I won't be doing anything crazy with the taillights altough i will be painting the orange part red.
I will also be changing the sockets so the complete red part is brake and normal light instead of 50/50 as it is now.

I also bidding on a mustang sequential taillight harness.
Think this wil look pretty nice in the rx7 taillights.

Small update.
Switched the rear window for 1 without a wiper.
Did this for a couple of reasons: I think it looks better and i don't use a rear wiper. Also the right lifting pump wasn't strong enough anymore and couldn't find a cheap replacement for it. Now with the 'new' and lighter window, the pumps are strong enough to keep it up.



Off course the horse is gone now.
