Get hold of them and sell them on. They're very popular ;)

Here's one of mine from a S2 (which is a straight swap into my RX2):

Is that diff from a S2 with 4x110 bolt pattern and with a LSD?
What diameter are we talking here (both the big gear and the 3rd member) I need to have our S3 axles measured to see if your S2 axles.

If that is the same measurements as our S2 4x110 axles then you have something that will sell pretty fast here... since we have too few S3's to provide every S2 owner with stuff to swap in..
Not to mention the time savings compared to change the the whole front end save for subframe and steering linkage...

Yes, both from S2 RX7 (24 spline) with 4x110 pattern.

Here's a query I posted on Ausrotary about them. Duane who is their diff guru responded. I've explained the differences in the CWPs on there.

They are popular here too as I've already had 2 PMs about them :D

Looks like the original mazda 24 spline diffs are rarer than honest salesmen...

Interestingly thouh there seems to be a few 24 spline options around as well as conversion kits.. see my post here viewtopic.php?f=11&t=170&start=10#p3943.

Right, 24 spline LSD going in the red one tomorrow as the back stepped out on me this afternoon at about 35 mph and upset the mrs.

Here's the pics from today.

The car is a 71 RX2 coupe.

Image

Drained the old oil out first. It was pretty horrid.

Image

Then pulled the brakes off and got the axles out.

Image

Here's the old open diff in place. Took a few good hits with a hammer to get it to come loose.

Image

Here's the diffs side by side.

Image

Here's one of the axles inserted into the LSD to check it was a 24 spline LSD. this is the same LSD I posted pictures of above.

Image

Here's the new LSD diff in place.

Image

This is the only problem I encountered.

Image

Filled it up with Castrol LSD oil. I bought it a few weeks ago in anticipation of fitting the LSD.

The axles slotted in quite happily and the stock RX2 2 piece driveshaft bolted straight up, although I do plan to upgrade the driveshaft to a custom 1 piece when the new engine and box goes in.

Has it been restored or is it just one of those few oldskool that din't decide to rust away?

Thanks. It's very original and hasn't been restored. It's not perfect either but it's very good for 40 years old. No rust or welding ever been done.

Fitting a BP engine and modified FC box.
