Nice one getting coilovers and ARBs for it. Willwood brake upgrade sounds great but I’d personally get the hubs drilled for 4x114.3 and run some old school JDM wheels, keep it a bit more period correct.Scabs wrote: ↑Mon May 07, 2018 9:01 pm Ok not alot of progress over the bank holiday weekend as the weather was too good to miss, I say out in the sunshine rebuilding and repainting all the parts here.
Just purchased some front and rear KMAC sway bars and XYZ coilovers with ajustable camber etc. Also considering a willwood big brake kit to change my non existent hubs as they Are connected to the brake discs (626 I think) which will change my PCD from the original 4x110 to 5x114.3 which opens me up to some nice wheels!

Yeah I felt abit stuck with the missing parts and the parts that were no longer available so I went for an aftermarket setup which I won't want to change 3 years down the line.gt_james wrote: ↑Tue May 08, 2018 9:22 amNice one getting coilovers and ARBs for it. I feel what your saying about the period correct wheels, but the 5 stud patterns have so many more choices and are widely available, my current 'budget' I use that term very loosely lol, hasn't taken into account the cost of some expensive rare wheels at the moment. I may change my mind down the line, I do have the original wheels but they look like pug rims!
So I ended up splashing out on the wilwood conversion, These should look nice anyhow!
Grinded more of the underside today, hands feel like they want to fall off from the vibrations lol

So I've hit the 50 hour mark with working on the underside and this is how it's looking, still needs more work though.

Certainly looking good underneath! All the hrs of dull work now will pay off mega dividends when the projects finished!!
I think your definition of 'not alot done' and mine are completely different!!

It's getting there Rich! I'm using a phosphate rust converter that's really strong and burns the crap out of my skin and slowly grinding it all off and applying more.
Exactly I want to do it right and once, I know your feeling though haha.
Spent most of the day at my second work (a local bodyshop) working on a friend's RX7. After putting some time into his I felt bad and had to come and work on mine! I've given myself a time scale of wanting everything done but the interior by next summer.... Let's see how that goes lol!

First coat of zinc primer on this evening and all my super pro bushings have arrived.
Spent a good few hours trying to remove the Lower control arm ball join, ended grinding the this off and pressing it out lol.

Did some welding last night on the underside covering up the bad welding and pinholes. Also gave it a second coat of primer.
Started to refurbish the diff, sending the axle ends to be drilled and taped to 114.3 to match the fronts. And fitted the lower control arm ball joints (nightmare to get out the old ones were!)
