I used the aluminium filled carbon apex seals for the build as the engine is being built with some trackday use in mind. These should seal nicely at high revs and be gentle on the rotor housings.
The stock flywheel was replaced with a lightweight aluminium number courtesy of a member of the forum. The oil pump is an uprated 17mm pump and the pressure regulator has been modified to increase oil pressure. An FC oil cooler is mounted to the tube in front of the radiator, with new oil lines made up to suit.
I decided to start the engine using the stock Nikki carburettor before fitting my modified Nikki carburetor. The main goal at the moment is to have the engine bed in nicely and build good compression, power gains can come later once any other gremlins are dealt with.
I had a few teething troubles, mainly a couple of leaking oil hoses fittings - these have now been sorted but not before leaking oil all over the garage floor. I made the hoses up myself so I only have myself to blame

Anyway, after much smoke and anxiety the car now runs but needs a few adjustments before it will idle happily. Compression is increasing with every start but it needs the ignition timing and idle speed re-adjusted yet. I will hopefully take it for an MOT before summer comes around.
