12a engine bracket

Post by ian65 »

who knows why the ends on the 12a front engine mounting bracket are different from side to side.... why is one end square and the other end larger and cut on a slant? :?

I could not fathom that out when I changes my engine mounts, there must be a good reason but despite lots of head scratching I gave up thinking about it.

you're right Pete, no one seems to know.. I asked the same question on Facebook and just got the usual clueless replies on there ( which is no surprise really)

Maybe it is to compensate for rotational torque?? It's as good a guess as you'll get from me (and worth 10 points as a starter surely)

Maybe something to do with the way the engine is mounted in RHD cars? the engine is shoved over to the passenger side not in the middle like a LHD.
