Re: S3 Brake Pad Source?
Hi Adrian,
CYP and DVR are both definitely Series 3 1st Generations, both identical except I think DVR is an Elford?
The reference RX7 2 in the log book is not related to the Series, never sure what it meant. Just ignore it.
For ordering to fit CYP brakes use the Series 3 years 1984 to 1986. Pads and difference S2 and S3 are discussed somewhere on here.
Does that help?
Have you broken both cars now?

Re: S3 Brake Pad Source?
'RX7 2' This is another DVLA fuck up!
When the FC was launched, the DVLA often times referred to it as RX7 2 (but not always, I guess it depended on who was making the entries that day)
Unfortunately, it seems that some late registered FB's got caught up in this and were also christened RX7 2 (as mine is). I assume that the 2 refers to Generation 2 or MK 2 as in FB/FC etc)

Re: Disc brakes&pads 1985 rx7 2
EBC listings are mostly wrong when it comes to FB's. I had a look at quite a few recently. When you drill down into the info, they always comes back to the S1/S2 part. I guess they assume that 79 thru 85 are all the same!Adrian wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 5:53 pm Helo all can anyone help me I'm trying to buy a set of disc brakes for my rx7. There seems to be only one EBay seller that offers the correct size and they are eye wateringly expensive. That's the Black Diamond rotors.
Still cheaper to purchase thru RockAuto. Select 84/85 1.3L (13b) A pair of Centric rotors will land at around £75 (plus HMRC charges).

Re: S3 Brake Pad Source?
That's good to know James. Could you possibly put a link up?
I should clarify my previous statement and say that the listings I have looked at were a mix of EBC direct and third party listings for EBC products. Even Demon Tweeks have got it wrong!

Re: S3 Brake Pad Source?
I bought them from eBay, Item listing is called "D505 EBC Standard Brake Discs Front (PAIR) for MAZDA RX7". They're £86 now but they were £60 before when I purchased them. When I bought them I got a message from the seller asking, "Hello, please can you confirm the details of this car, there are different types for this car"
to which I replied, "My car is a 1985 S3 Mazda RX7 with 250mm front discs".
The seller then dispatched them, I received the correct S3 rotors and I have since used them on trackdays along with Hawk pads also from eBay and have found them to be great on the road and track and didn't experience any fade. I also use AP racing fluid and HEL brake lines.
