Good work.....saving another vert is hard but you are winning W(p
I changed my soft pipes, on my S5 Vert, not long ago.........they were fine but I wanted the braided (from Hel) for peace of mind, I had already covered them in shrink tube for safety. I have taken a couple of pictures of the stock pipes for your info if that helps:-

Thanks, I'll need to look into new pipes. Is there any reason there not all braided ?

Certainly will be alot harder than I imagined buying it back unseen... I'm not going for concourse but just solid.. Clean and safe ..

Ok so I'm pretty sure I've got all the parts off I need off. I have no excuses at all now but to get the Grinder out ... Scary times, a few more pics for interest since my writing isn't particularly interesting

Before the car goes back together I'll need to spend time derusting and replacing bushes etc...

I'm not sure on the condition of the wings, they look pretty rotten at the bottom..

And I'm still undecided on hydrate 80 vs bilit hamber rust removal gel for after the rusts been grinded off as much as possible....

Some pics

Good luck Rich , you have some work to do there. It'll be worth it when finished and there will be times you will wish you never started, but I'm sure all will be good in the end.

I thought it looked horrendous at first.. But I don't know if I've been smoking something or just getting used to the holes but I'm sure it's getting more fixable the more I look at it ...

The wings look like I'll need to do some sore of repair...

It's amazing how much work can be summed up with a couple of pictures. But I'm definitely at the stage where I can't really ignore having to cut out metal next

So in the following pictures I stripped the inner arches with a grinder back to.metal.

Image

made up a home brew Billit Hamber detox mixture, treated the metal and rusted areas.

Image

Cleared it off and re hit it with a grinder revealing more holes and covered the area with posphuric acid

So it has some protection now, just a quick coat of epoxy primer over the next few days if this weather holds

So my next thought is to drill the spot drills out of these tow bits of metal... See what lurks.

Can anyone advise if it's ment to be solid behind here?

And a close up of it helps
