So this took longer than I estimated  I'll unlock the other panel that I've started on and see what's below it. I think for the other side I'll just cut it, remake panels and weld it all up with fresh metal as it'll be pretty crappy underneath I would imagine... Thoughts?

Hats off to you h: that is some serious fabrication you are undertaking & putting another back on the road is no mean feat!
I will try & get a couple of pics of inner wing tomorrow.

If I turn my phone screen up I can see it fine. It's just a plain plate that covers the chassis rails... So I should be able to fabricate something similar easily enough.

Thanks

With a young family you probably need that hour to relax & get absorbed in the car.
You will be able driving around with the top down sooner than you think......I know of people working on FCs who have not done as much over the last 3 years.

Yes there's a definite amount of relaxing goes on. It's a different stress working on the car and seeing everything that needs done vs a house of crazy kids and a very sane wife ;) but its an enjoyable stress mostly.

Thanks for the motivation, it's all new to me so each step I stop and have a think about how to proceed. FC's seem few and far between for projects... Not a huge amount of info out there on them ... Maybe the dodgy pics will help someone else one day

Still must be nice to have yours ready to go and enjoy in mint condition

Another attempt at the rusty bits today, I had to stop for contemplation. Sometimes you realise how tough it is to see all the rust and revealing patch after patch takes its toll on your mood.and the realization that it may be beyond you ( never welded before) or are you blowing it out of proportion.

I'll post up some photos but really looking for advice on availability on of floor pans, I'll call Mazda today but won't hold my breath...

What the pics don't show is the sills looking crusty, which I don't remember last year ... Odd...

Anyway Iains comments of his being like a seive and scrapping it keep going round in my head... Is this all worth it? I'm stubborn but ... Anyway I have a friend coming over to give me motivation.. he's a welder to trade so some good advice..
