Well, no expensive machines for sheet metal here either. Home-made stuff to do the work.
Two pieces of angle iron between the vise to bend plate, and a piece of round pipe to make the bends.
Tip for welding, sand away the zinc layer where the welding is to be done. Try to overlap the old and new plate.
If possible, make a step in the plate to overlap and punch holes in it so that you can weld it back to the underlying plate. Tools for this are easy and cheap to find, manually or pneumatically.

it's worth checking out a Mazda dealer for the rear valance.... they used to be available for not a lot of money.... I bought 1 once and, being an original factory pressing, was a doddle to fit....

Still listed on several mazda parts sites in the US Average around $50 US. So I would imagine that Mazda UK can still source it?

Now that would be great!
Spent ages trying to get the rust off the back & I'm watching it disintegrate before my eyes!
A new one would be fab as its basically just a few spot welds & some tacks.

I'll deffo have a look for that part now.

Rear Valance is now NLA in UK and Europe according to the local Mazda dealer. If it was available then it would be £51, which is a bargain.

Looks like I may have to source from Japan or the states.

cant the dealer order it in for you? I've bought things which are NLA available UK, just needed to wait for them to ship it in from overseas stock (belgium usually).

I enquired with nengun.com a while back re the rear valance and was notified they're now listed and available - price is £53.97.
Cheapest shipping option to the UK is EMS at £43.70.
