I got quoted £180/220 + vat for my recore, so £300 for the one you want does not seem a lot more.

It's really low quality. Arrived damaged so they refunded me. Probably would have returned it if not as its below the standard I want on my car.

I have an the original rad from the car that I will get recored. Definitely the best option in my opinion unless you are going to splash the cash for a £300 Koyo.
Same thing happened to me when I bought a cheap rad before. Won't buy again.

I got a 3 row one off eBay, has the lower union for the matrix return and was really happy with the quality - it's survived cooling the 13BT with no problems at all. Can't remember the seller though so not very helpful.

Finally got my radiator rebuilt, I've had it recored with a twin core so that should help with the cooling problem I was having, also the old single core was mostly blocked.
When removing the rad I noticed a threaded plug in the bottom left hand corner of the rad facing the engine, anyone know what this is for ?
Now all I need to do is have a good clean up respray the rad surround and refit ready to tax in May.

I've spent the last half hour trying to add photos now pissed off .... So sorry no pics

Mine arrived fine, not fitted yet but looks ok, can see any problems with it, I honestly can't see how a koyo can be better quality to the extent it justifies the extra £300

Rad started to weep so looking at a Re-Core, but also looked at alloy rads. They vary in price & quality in particular the bottom hose fitting,
The best I have seen so far is the Rock Auto Rad with Post & Tax comes at a reasonable £175.
Any one tried one from Rock?

Radiator repairers are a endangered species nowadays.....managed to find a chap in Exeter, sent him photos explained it needed a Re-core/paint, I think he misunderstood & thought it needed a 22 carat gold coating as well :o
The quote was £228 + vat!! The last time I had one done it cost £98 incl. That was on a S2 (in the early 90s)
Needless to say last Wed I ordered the New Rad from Rock (£170 incl Tax & cheapest delivery), it arrived 0830hrs this morning!
Needed a couple of fixing holes drilled & a bit of a "fettle" & it is in.
Dave - It has the "Low Coolant Alarm" fitment
It also has what I assume as a Oil Cooler built in the base.
