this is a fantastic build, it makes me want to get a move on with mine. 400 hp through the stock diff will be fun, my 13b elford had about 300 hp and that was entertaining. Can you remind me again how you connected the steering column. I cant seem to find a join on my FB column.

I have managed to secure a 26 spline JDM LSD from a factory 12at so at least both wheels will spin predictably even if the car itself isnt..

Re the join - there isn't one as such. The worm gear is connected to the lower column and will come off if you bash it - I used a technique similar to a slide hammer action by pulling it through a semi closed bench vice and it comes off with a little persuasion.

This exposes the inner/upper column which mates to the inner/lower of the FC but no idea what's inside the FD column.

Nice to be popular :) Hopefully I'll see you guys sunday then. If I can follow Ramon's quality directions haha.

I'm looking forward to having a good trunk around the car, it's an awesome thing 8-) 400 bhp in an FB is something of a bravery test W(p

Well, Timbo (Captain) came over smartly on Saturday morning and left a whole lot quicker than he arrived. Nik (Lucky) also joined in the fun and took some cracking snaps - all in all we were cold, slightly damp but ever jovial and surely setting 'non-event/workshop related' record of 3 FBs in the same postcode??

It was great fun to be having a crack at tuning Nev up to a safe 9psi that was still very rapid - being in his certainly spurred me on to get mine going and we spent the second half of the day doing just that.

We started like this - pretty empty:

Image

2 gaskets, 12mm Stainless spacers, longer studs and copper coated lock nuts later the exhaust manifold and wastegate were on for the final time.

Image

Clearance after the 'trim' is now bang on

Image

Exhaust housing on and tight - same copper coated lock nuts.

We missed a few steps - LIM, FD UIM adaptor, FD UIM etc.. but ended up like this:

Image

I got the silicone hoses lined up, just need a joiner to close that off, downpipe and link to the rest of the exhaust system - pop in a battery and she should start!

I think I have a day-pass for more car fiddling next weekend so bring it on! :D

Certainly a proper weapon-in-waiting. Sorry, I only got a couple of arty shots of Ramon's (though I took a load of boring factual ones that he's already pretty much posted already lol) cos we were concetrating on Tim's Nev when I was there, but for what they're worth...

Definitely need a tidy-up, dude
